Compact Voice Says

Compact Voice has written to Justice Secretary Chris Grayling MP, about the Ministry of Justice's intention to introduce a system of Payment by Results for services delivered on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.

Compact Voice have asked the Minister to provide clarity around how the Ministry of Justice will be ensuring it upholds certain principles of the Compact relating to supply chains during the development of these reforms.

Compact Voice have responded to the Local Government Authority's consultation into voluntary sector spending data. Full details of the consultation can be found on the LGA's website, and our response can be downloaded below.

Compact Voice have responded to the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) consultation into 'Improving local government transparency'. With an increasing emphasis on data sharing and transparency, Compact Voice believes that clarity about how local authorities gather and share information can have a positive impact on partnership activities.

The Welsh Assembly recently commissioned research into whether or not it should be statutory requirement for local areas in Wales to have a local Compact agreement.

Compact Voice has submitted a response to the Department of Health’s draft guidance on developing Health and Wellbeing Board strategies and Joint Strategic Needs Assessments.
 
In it, we state that we are disappointed that the reference to local Compacts has been weakened from an earlier draft of the document published in January, and recommend that further clarification is made about the role of local Compact groups and agreements.

We have also published the statement as a PDF, accompanied by briefing notes which outline how voluntary organisations can use the new guidance to hold government to account, the impact on local Compact groups and next steps.

The Local Government Association (LGA) is consulting on a 'procurement pledge' for councils, and Compact Voice have responded to the consultation. While we welcome the LGA's commitment to improving the way local authorities procure services, we have raised concerns about the lack of reference to the Compact or to the contribution of voluntary and community sector in the design and delivery of services.
