Compact Networks

Local Compacts can often cover quite small areas – for example, a district or borough council might have its own local Compact.

This can lead to a multiple local Compacts in one large regional area, and the people involved in each Compact often don’t come together to meet and learn from each other.

Our recent 2012 survey results highlighted a significant regional difference in both the level of implementation and the perceived effectiveness of the Compact. The North East was one of two regions to have the most negative indicators – according to the figures, respondents felt that both the voluntary and public sectors weren’t engaged with their local Compact.

Our research suggested that regional Compact networks add real value to local Compacts. Now we are putting that idea to the test by establishing the East of England Compact Network
