If my area does not currently have a local Compact, can the national Compact be referred to if an issue arises?

This is a question our Engagement Team is asked quite often. Most areas in England have their own local Compact – however, in some cases where there isn't an active local Compact, or a local Authority has yet to sign up to it – the National Compact can be used in the interim.

Some areas have adopted the national Compact as their local Compact as a temporary measure whilst they update the local document.
