This talk is an up-to-date summary of how policy developments tie up with the Compact. Current hot-topics include Localism, the Big Society and Cuts (the Spending Review) - not to mention the Renewed Compact. The talk will:

- Detail how the Compact will be effected by policy developments

In any Compact themed event or as a stand alone workshop. A briefer version could slot into partnership events.
Overview:
Localism means many things to many people and it is often hard to separate fact from ideology. One definite change is the reduction in the auditing and inspection regimes which held public bodies to account for the services they provide. With reduced regulation and reduced budgets in the public sector the need for closer relationships and shared understandings has never been so pressing. This talk represents a comprehensive and convincing ‘hard-sell’ for the Compact. Attendees will gain:
- An understanding of the Compact’s ‘journey’ and exponential rise to significance
- Appreciation of the extent to which the Compacts time has arrived
- A snapshot of good practice examples where the Compact way of working delivers through adversity
