New guidance on social value and the Compact published

Compact Voice has published a new guide which provides an easy-to-understand overview of social value and the Public Services (Social Value) Act. 
.
The guide provides practical case studies and actions for commissioning authorities and voluntary organisations to take, as well as explaining what is covered by the Social Value Act, how it relates to the Compact, how to demonstrate social value and create a strategy for doing so.

Chris Frost posthumously awarded an MBE

Chris Frost, who sadly passed away in November, was posthumously awarded an MBE in the New Year's Honours List. Chris was a long standing member of Compact Voice's board and was a passionate advocate of partnership working and the voluntary sector.

Compact Voice write to Francis Maude about recent consultation timeframes

Simon Blake OBE, chair of Compact Voice, has written to the Minister for the Cabinet Office, Francis Maude. The letter highlights that despite government's continued commitment to encouraging open and transparent decision making, several recent consultations have contradicted this. 

We have published the letter online, which encourages government to engage meaningfully when consulting, and offers a number of solutions to encourage this.

Government's first Social Value Ambassador appointed

Chris White MP and Don Foster MP at Compact Week conference

It has been announced today that Chris White MP will become the government's first Social Value Act ambassador.

White, who authored the original Act, will be working closely with Local Authorities and the voluntary sector to raise awareness of the Public Services (Social Value) Act, which came into force earlier this year.
