NCVO's Counting the Cuts Report: Revealing the scale of voluntary sector funding cuts
NCVO have today published an update to their 2011 Counting the Cuts report, which examines the scale of funding cuts to the voluntary sector so far, as well as those to come.
The Report uses Office for Budget Responsibility forecasts of public spending, along with NCVO Civil Society Almanac data on charities' income sources, to estimate the impact of reductions in public spending on charities.
The report draws on Compact Voice's Freedom of Information Act Reports to reach its conclusion - if estimated cuts to charities are passed on proportionately, the voluntary sector's income will be 12% lower in 2017/18 than it was in 2010/11. 'Proportionate' cuts means local authorities passing on reductions in funding that are in proportion to how much their own settlement from central government has been reduced.
